Next time, I'm going to tell him that I absolutely want readings thru the rpm range. I'd like to plot the vectors and see how they add up. You get a reading for what the vibration level is - mine went from .12 to .04 after one itteration of taking readings and adding weight, he said he usually does it 3 times but that was so good he stopped. When he captures a reading at an rpm, the handheld computer thing gives him what I'm calling a vector - a certain weight to place at so many degrees from the reference (pice of reflective tape on the back of a prop blade). In my case, I think it was 7 grams at 120 degrees or something. 120 degrees was between prop bolts so he split the difference and put 3.1 grams of washers on two prop bolts. What I'd like to see is a plot of a bunch of readings - each reading would be a line going out from the center. The line would go out in the direction of how many degrees from the reference, and the length of the line would represent how much weight to add. I guess each one would have to be labelled with what the vibration level was at that reading too. Then it would be interesting to see if you could average these and put one weight in the average direction. I'm not sure if this would be any better that doing three itterations of readings and adding weights but I'd like to try it. I think I'll call the company who makes the balancing equipment and talk to them. It made a huge difference but I know it can be used to make it even better. The problem is, it takes time and the A&P has a row of mooneys and twins to fix instead of fiddling with a little homebuilt. - anyone interested in splitting one of these dynamic balancers if they are anywhere near affordable? I'll find out how much they are when I call them. Gary

Bill - this is from the Eggenfelner list ... Regarding the MT props, I have found that 3500 RPM is the best balance RPM and that results better than 0.040 should be obtained. Jan
