New rings, bearings etc. were from a local shop. FYI, Hugh -----Original Message----- From: owner-stratus-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-stratus-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of John Mckiernan Subject: Stratus-List: Rebuilding EA-81 --> Stratus-List message posted by: "John Mckiernan" I've had an intermittant overheating problem and have broken down my Stratus EA-81 engine. This block had previous work done that left the #3 cylinder deck with a dip in it. I was burning water in this cylider. It also had passed some metal of some sort thru the left side and dinged the #1 and #3 pistons. I need a new block as well as a total rebuild. Crank, Rods, Cam and heads are OK. My idea is to get a running car motor and rebuild using my heads and possibly crank and cam. 1. Does anyone have a good source for parts? ie master rebuild 2. How do you identify the year of the EA-81 engine? numbers etc. Are they all the same as far as accessory locations, so I can use my Alt, redrive etc. 3. If I opt to purchase a rebuilt engine any recommendations 4. I would also like to have new mounts manufactured as I am not happy with the quality of this metal Thanks John
