Hi Guys
My front seal did spring a leak and manifested itself as a spray all around
the inside cowling parallel with the flywheel. It was back in a hot spring day
and right before I planned to reseat the main carb valve metering rod from
position 2 (lean) to position 3 (rich) to enable to engine to run cooler during
the summer.
I flew again in a cool morning (before I made the switch in the carbs) and
noted no more spray. I made the carb changes and have not seen any more oil
spray all summer long.
It looks like for my engine, if I run it hot (touch & go's, extended climbs,
etc.) during hot weather, I may spray oil from the front seal. Temperature
may have something to do with this.
Just my two-cents' worth.
Fly safe!
