Subject: | Prop pitch at gross |
--> Stratus-List message posted by: "Larry McFarland" <larrymc@qconline.com>
Hi guys,
I've been working up to gross loading and wanted to know
how far you've pitched the prop at max load and how it went.
I've got a tri-gear, HDS and a Stratus with the standard
Warp Drive 3-blade like many of you and I'm pitched 16-degrees
The economical cruise is a little over 100 at 4000 with
just me but todays takeoff at 1150 lbs was definitely slower because I was trying
to do it at 45-4800 rpm. About a third the way down the runway I used full
throttle, lifted off and climbed slowly until the airspeed neared 80. I then banked
right to a 130 heading but got a eyefull of the roofing on the nearby Holiday
Inn. It went right up at 5000-rpm, but in the future, it'll have to start earlier
with more HP.
It would appear I was initially trying to lift off with only 75% of the available
power.
Anyway, there's 35-hours on the EIS. Still flys well, but the 1300 lb max
will have to be a 100-lbs fuel that can be used up before landing.
Great fun!
