18 gauge will do just fine. 20 might even do, but I don't think you'll want
to go that small. Too fragile.

The 40106 is the correct one. I assume you are not going to rely on a
single pump? You really should have a second for redundancy. The pumps
draw just over an amp and I use 5 amp fused circuit to each pump.
