I hate changing the filter as it's difficult to get at, plus it dumps oil all over the muffler below when changing. I'm contemplating going to a remote oil filter to simplify this process. With more oil required to fill the additional oil lines and larger filter, plus getting the filter away from the engine & muffler I hope to cool the oil just a little better. My question is, has any of you done this on your EA-81 yet? If so can you tell me a little about your installation, and also were you purchased the remote oil filter kit (part # if you have it)? Thanks for any advice, Kelly Meiste Stratus powered 601 HD (130 hours) ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 03:18:16 PM PST US Subject: RE: Stratus-List: Remote oil filter From: "Bill Cardell" --> Stratus-List message posted by: "Bill Cardell" Try www.batinc.net . I used a nylon belt-wrench with a square steel tube handle. This was adapted to fit a large size socket extension 12 inches long. The belt is fit the usual way onto the filter so that the wrench and extension work the firewall-side of the filter while extending out the right side. This method makes getting the filter off a breeze. Doesn't stop the excess oil that dribbles onto the muffler. I use a wad of paper towels to capture that and a pan under. The extension works well both ways, but one has to be careful as it's easy to over tighten the filter. This method eliminated my need for a remote oil filter which is going to drip wherever you put it. The oil dribbles down on to the aluminum and runs down into the drain pan. -- Bryan Martin N61BM, CH 601 XL, Stratus Subaru. do not archive. on 3/22/06 7:54 PM, LarryMcFarland at larry@macsmachine.com wrote: > --> Stratus-List message posted by: LarryMcFarland > > > Kelly, > I found the difficulty of removing and replacing the filter was much > ... > getting the filter off a breeze.
