Subject: | Re: Static RPM for 100HP EA81 Subaru |
Bryan,
I use the tip of the blade to attach the pitch measuring gage. I did
send my heads to RAM Performance and h.p. could be a factor.
I have to tie off the landing gear facing into the wind with two ropes
going back to the trailer hitch on my Saturn. In max cruise,
currently, the plane will go another 300 rpm. I have a VDO tach and the
one on my EIS System and they're always within 100 rpm
of agreement. Static tests were last conducted summer of 06 in rather
warm conditions.

Bryan,
I think I've quoted you apples and oranges. What was written for rpm in
06 runups
and the rpms seen in Gary's data tends to suggest I could not have been
getting 5100 rpm
static at the pitch I'm using now. Please disregard my static number as
I believe it doesn't
agree with the pitch that was actually used last year. Too great a
range of difference as
I use the same prop but was taking data for rpms when the pitch was
being adjusted.
Another case of the fingers getting ahead of the brain.........

I just set my prop pitch to 14 and I'm getting 4900 static and 5200
WOT at 130 mph IAS. At 4400 I can still get about 105 mph so I think
I'm about where I aught to be. Thanks for the responses.

Bryan,
I initially had my prop pitch at 12.5 degrees and had a static RPM of 4900 RPM
I now am at 15 degrees but have not checked the static RPM at that pitch setting
