    Subject: Fuel Plumbing ?
I'm trying to finalize my fuel system plumbing and was wondering what you guys have found to be the best size of fuel line from the header tank to the firewall? ? I'm installing a STRATUS EA-81 in my AVID Speedwing. I'm thinking 1/4" will do as most of the fittings at the wing tanks and the header tank are 1/8" NPT. 1/8" NPT fittings only have a 3/16" ID. Thanks. Andy F.

As long as you use 1/4" ID line it should be OK. If you are using aluminum tubing, you should use 3/8" OD which gives about 1/4" ID. Flexible hose sizes are stated in nominal inside diameter while tubing sizes are stated in outside diameter. Keep the number of fittings ahead of the pump to a minimum to minimize restrictions to the flow. Every fitting will cause a small drop in the fuel pressure when the fuel is flowing.
