Does anyone know how many turns the air screw is set to? I have mine at 1.5 turns but I saw a manual that stated 3 turns. Also, what other blocked orifices might cause a rough idle? I usually poke out the pilot jet which sometimes gets gunked by mogas but that didn't do it. Short of a carb soaking and rebuild, any other quick fixes? It starts right up, idles reliably but a bit rough, and runs smooth above 3000 rpm. How many Stratus guys still flying here? Thanks, Gary Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=406452#406452

Gary, My first question to you is are you sure your carbs are balanced? If they are not, that can cause it to not run smoothly. Andy F. I just talked to Mykal - nice that he answers the phone and went on for a w hile about details of tuning.=0A=0AYes, I've balanced them and didn't touch anything since.- I'm sure it's buildup as a result of letting it sit wit h mogas.- I'm trying to avoid a complete carb rebuild again (which has al ways worked well).- I've got some things to try to smooth it out.=0A=0ATh anks for the reminder to balance - I've used the steam gauge type, digital Rotax type, and he uses a ball float type that fits over the carb intake in stead of tapping into the manifold balance tube.- I may try to find one o f those.- I will clean the idle screw tip and tweak some adjustments.=0A =0AGary=0A=0A=0A=0A=0A________________________________=0A From: Andy Fultz <andynfultz@bellsouth.net>=0ATo: "stratus-list@matronics.com" <stratus-list @matronics.com> =0ASent: Sunday, August 11, 2013 12:35 PM=0ASubject: Re: St Fultz <andynfultz@bellsouth.net>=0A=0AGary, =0A=0AMy first question to you is are you sure your carbs are balanced?- If they are not, that can caus e it to not run smoothly.=0A=0AAndy F.=0A=0ASent from my iPad=0A=0AOn Aug 1 1, 2013, at 12:14 PM, "Gary Krysztopik" <pelican640@yahoo.com> wrote:=0A=0A om>=0A> =0A> Does anyone know how many turns the air screw is set to?- I have mine at 1.5 turns but I saw a manual that stated 3 turns.=0A> =0A> Als o, what other blocked orifices might cause a rough idle?- I usually poke out the pilot jet which sometimes gets gunked by mogas but that didn't do i t.- Short of a carb soaking and rebuild, any other quick fixes?- It sta rts right up, idles reliably but a bit rough, and runs smooth above 3000 rp m.=0A> =0A> How many Stratus guys still flying here?=0A> =0A> Thanks,=0A> G ary=0A> =0A> =0A> =0A> =0A> Read this topic online here:=0A> =0A> http://fo rums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=406452#406452=0A> =0A> =0A> =0A> =0A> =
