HI Tim,
Early on, I had the same experience with the oil seal. I did the same fix
as you and put enough gasket adhesive to amount to a fillet at the
edge. Never had another occasion for it to leak or let go. I'd suspect
you've got it fixed.

I recently had a bit of excitment. After the annual and an oil change I took
the bird up. I knew I would probably smell a little oil from what had
dripped on the pipes. By the end of the runway at about 300ft I realized
this is more smoke than expected as the cockpit started looking blue. Short
story two quick lelt turns and back on the ground. At the hanger when I
stopped smoke was coming out from under the cowling and dripping out the
bottom. The back of the engine was covered with oil and I guessed that I has
a problem with the oil filter I had just replaced. I took it off and
inspected it but found nothing. So putting on a new one and cleaning some of
the oil off of the engine I ran it to find that it was coming out of the
front seal under the pulley. Removing the pulley, and that bolt is REALLY
TIGHT, I found that the seal had shifted into the engine. I had seen one
other posting about this and was wonder if anybody else had had the problem.
I put in a new seal with hardening Permetex to hold it. The engine has about
300 hours I hope this is not a reacuring problem.

Larry,
I was hoping that might be the case, as many Subaru's driving around for
as many years the seal must usually work.
