Pavel,
The ss461 Hall effects device is a switch which responds to the polarity of
the magnetic field. One pole of a magnet will turn it off and the other will
turn it on. The flywheel had two magnet in it one reversed from the other.
It is important that the ss461 be properly oriented in the sensor so that
the coil will fire on the proper magnet. The faceted side of the device with
the number should face out.

Subject: Stratus-List: Re: Backup ignition failure
Hello,
My 2nd ignition just stopped to work. I'm not flying yet and both ignitions
were working with no problems until last weekend. I've removed the flywheel
pickup, hook it to 12V source and tried to move a magnet in front of it.
When close to the sensor the voltage drops to 0V but when I move the magnet
far away it will remain 0V.
I've ordered the replacement sensor (with 10K 1/8W resistor) you've
recommended but the same result.
What am I doing wrong?
I have a dual distributor pickup setup "Dual Dizzy" with relay switch power
inputs but I'd still like to keep the "magneto" ignition as well.
