I'm sure you don't remember but I first met you at OSH one evening, I think about 1987 or '88 when you had just finished the white and blue one with the O-300 continental. I had been intending to build an airplane for many years but like so many others, could only dream. A few years later I met Earl Luce, and the rest is history. Best wishes, keep building. I grind off the spot welded hex-drive hub on the back of the filter itself. This gives about a 1/4" spare room to get the filter on/off. Don't grind the welds themselves or the safety wire tabs and take care not to score the metal of the actual filter can under the hex.
