One thing you got right. I am going to keep the W8. And I will be flying it up to Baraboo next summer. I love this airplane. On the other hand, what head aches are you talking about? That rotary project makes me feel gooood! Now that I have a good flying TW, the pressure to get finished and into the air is off. The W-8 makes the W-10 possible. Subject: Which List?
    From: Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net>
--> Tailwind-List message posted by: Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net> I got ten responses from my survey. four for Yahoo, two for Matronics and four said both. I vote for both but I am not going to double post after this message. I will use which ever one the thread is started on. I was never bothered by the ads on Yahoo. Just scroll past them. Nor do I recall Yahoo ever screwing up. I don't want to give up a good thing. I will use Matronics greatfully, but I will not be sending them any money. Jerry

    Subject: Re: Which List?
Jerry and everyone: I agree with your view, using both lists and not double posting, and just following the thread. That way we we all have access to every post if we desire as we can all subscribe to both, and eliminating double posting is great, otherwise, the second post is like somewhat like getting useless junk mail. Even tho Matt has enabled the Tailwind LIst to do a lot more with pictures etc. I think we should respect His suggestions when we use it, whereas in the Yahoo Forum, we can be more frivolus? as yahoo doesn't seem to have many rules. So with the more relevant meaningful messages pertaining to Tailwind stuff, Matronics is great. For talking about pig roasts, and deluxe double cheese bacon burgers, and just fun flying stuff we should use Yahoo. There were 30 posts just on Culvers burgers! Many mine. Yahoo stuff. We should all review the Matronics suggestions and respect them. Click on the site below, but here is a portion of it: THINK carefully before you write. Ask yourself if your post will be relevant to everyone. If you have to wonder about that, DON'T send it. - Remember that your post will be included for posterity in an archive that is growing in size at an extraordinary rate. Try to be concise and terse in your posts. Avoid overly wordy and lengthy posts and responses. http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Tailwind-List.htm George.....Phoenix N1217W W-10 Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net> wrote: --> Tailwind-List message posted by: Jerry Hey I got ten responses from my survey. four for Yahoo, two for Matronics and four said both. Subject: more good times
    From: Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net>
--> Tailwind-List message posted by: Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net> Today, I flew north west in crystal clear weather. Passed over Notre Dame, got to within a stones throw of Lake Michigan and then, just outside of the Chicago TCA did a 180 and flew back to the airport. I think it would work out to about 175 miles altogether. I was at 4500 AGL indicating around 145/155 mph most of the time and thanks to Lou's ingenious use of a slender little bungy that puts a little back pressure on the stick, much of the trip was hands off. I was parked in front of the hanger an hour and a half after taking off. I seem to be burning around 6 gpm despite pushing the throttle in a bit. Cold weather helps everything. I promise not to bore everyone with every little flight but right now these flights are big deals to me after so many years of not flying anything let alone a Tailwind. It is even better than I imagined. Jerry

Are you getting better with the Charts? Does that airplane have mode C for the transponder? Chicago is fairly easy to get past and then it's wide open all the way up to Oshkosh or Fondulac or Baraboo or or or..... Get out there and waste some gas! And keep letting us know just exactly how much fun you are really having so the builders will continue to be enthused and to know just why it is they are building. BTW, on your fuel consumption... Is that gallons per minute? OR Gallons per mile? You might want to lean it out just a tad... :) Weav On Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 12:01 PM, Jerry Hey wrote: > Today, I flew north west in crystal clear weather. Subject: Stabilizer setting
--> Tailwind-List message posted by: RJ <gatsby8898@yahoo.com> Looks like an exciting time, Bill. What incidence is your stabilizer set at? Looks about zero degrees. I'm setting mine about a degree down, (tailwheel version). I measured some W-10s at Baraboo, most are 1" to 1 1/2" from bolt hole to top of longeron. Just curious. Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: Which List? We should all review the Matronics suggestions and respect them.Click on the site below, but here is a portion of it: THINK carefully before you write.Ask yourself if your post will be relevant to everyone. If you have to wonder about that, DON'T send it. - Remember that your post will be included for posterity in an archive that is growing in size at an extraordinary rate.Try to be concise and terse in your posts.Avoid overly wordy and lengthy posts and responses. http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Tailwind-List.htm George.....PhoenixN1217W W-10 Jerry Hey <J-WINDDESIGNS@THEGRID.NET>wrote: -- Tailwind-List message posted by: Jerry Hey I got ten responses from my survey. four for Yahoo, two for Matronics and four said both. Just got this shot from Ted Rosario.. He has my old W8 in restoration phase. This is a picture with the stick mostly out of the way so you can see the patch over the tube, then the gusset supports on each side of the bushing. Danny Joe did a good job of sketching this up and now you can see what was really there. Weav PS.. Low last night was 21.2 degrees.. it's only 6 pm and already 31 degrees and dropping... The fire is blazing... N1101D W8 Stick fix
