Yep! The pipes don't come anywhere near the firewall.

I thought it looked like it was coming sort of steeply downward. So the exhaust
will stick down and out thru a hole or two in the bottom cowling? Well ahead
      of the firewall?

Fred, I adapted a crossover system I had previously used on my Mustang II.
Both pipes cross in front of the oil sump but then turn downward and exit the
cowling sort of like on the later Cherokees.

I have not had good experience with long tail pipes in the cowling and I also
like to get the heat out as quickly as possible. This system has been used
for a couple hundred hours and didn't have a bit of problem.

Thanks Jim. I'm about to the point of rigging the flaps and ailerons and
getting close to doing the weight & balance.

I had planned to fly without wheel pants on the mains for a while, mainly
just to get into the air a bit quicker. It's good to know that they will
have an effect on the trim. I may have to increase the priority on getting
      them on.

Jim C. and everybody. I finished welding the engine mount with the dynafocal
ring and nose gear socket. The big moment came to fit the Lycoming 0-320 up
to the new mount and I should have asked why the bottom tubes to the nose gear

socket looked goofy. Now I know. The oil pan is hitting the 2 tubes and I
am looking at moving them farther back on the nose gear socket and then welding

      in gussets for addition strength.

Jim or anybody, do you have another idea on how to deal with the problem I
have now? How much space should I allow between the oil pan and the tubes?

I will try to include a pic.

Weav, yes, I actually was using Jim's drawing and didn't quite understand the
tubing placement and why they crossed over each other. Now I know. Stupid
me, I even have his pics too.
