Hi Jim Clement,
You mentioned earlier that the best way to do this part is to raise the
front bow by 1" on each side and 2 1/2 " in the middle and slope it ahead so
that you get a straight line in the plexi W/S. Are there other reasons why
you raise the bow as much as this ? Doesn't this take a bit the front
visuality especially for the shorter pilots. Thanks for your precious
answer. Guido

If you raise the sides 1" from the plans, raise the center 1" also. I
believe the plans call for a 1 1/2"rise in the center. 1" plus 1 1/2" is
where the 2 1/2" comes from. No problem going with the plans dimensions, it
will give better visibility when landing a TD. Raising the w/s bow gives a
little better slope to the w/s. Jim C

Another question, Jim?
While on the subject of windshields, can you tell how you
make the windshield/side window junction?
There is obviously a shrinker involved.
I was wondering about materials and support?
Richard

Use a piece of .050 aluminum left over from the fuel tank and bend into a
angle. 1/2-5/8" on the side window side and wider on the w/s side. Place 1
or 2 capstrips in the angle and bend over your knee. No shrinker. Jim

Ok, be that way...
So, the plastic attaches with screws thru the aluminum?

The alum. angle goes over the top of the w/s and side window and screws into
welded corner w/s bows made from 3/8 or 1/2" round tubing. Weld tabs on the
tubes facing inward to give more edge spacing for the holes in the plex.
I'll take a picture of this and post it. Jim
