My inner bows are 3/8 square aluminum tubing bent to shape. I attached the 3 tubes by slipping them over a short piece of 1/4 chromemoly welded to the front fire wall bow, then 3 U brackets I welded to the forward carry through spar and finally 3 more Ubrackets attached to the top tube where the fabric terminates. I arranged the rear brackets in such a way that the plexy is flush with the top fabric. I use a strip of aluminum as a cllamp at the rear of the windsheild. The square tubing is drilled appro. every 8 inches and is fitted with rivnuts for 10-32 stainless screws. The windshed is drilled and countersunk for the machine screws. The side angle bows are drilled and then dimpled to accomodate the countersink. ( I used a shrinker to form the curve.) In the center of the windsheild, I used countersunk washers painted black to blend with the dark windsheild. Using this technique allowed me to drill larger holes in the plexi to allow for expansion without stress. The countersunk screws give a nice smooth finished appearance from outside. The forward part of the windsheild is retained by a lip bent on top of the SS firewall. Are you still using the Subaru? And are you building the second Tailwind now? This time I am usingthe stock fuel injection system instead of the carb and distributor I used the lat time. It is also a trigear. I promised pictures but the photographer has not made the disc yet. I don't have a digital camera so I depend on others.
