I was surprised that the internal diameter was so small through the sensor. Obviously must work without restricting fuel flow. Where did you install the sensor? It would be easiest for me between the Gascolator and the Mechanical Fuel Pump. Did you attach it to a bracket or just install it between fittings in the line? Locating it where you describe is fine. Mount it somewhere in the middle of that line and also note that you don't have to mount it to the firewall or anything else. They always ask for about a 6" leadin and exit but it's all but impossible in the installations in most airplanes. You will be amazed at the accuracy after a couple tanks of fuel go thru it..... I rerouted the line from the fuel tank to the right side of the engine and came across the firewall to the left side of the engine. The directions are very specific about having 3" of straight line before and after the transducer. This is to eliminate turblance in the fuel. The only way I could gain a 7" straight run was across the firewall. You should also consider installing the gascolator before the transducer to filter the fuel before it goes into the transducer. I think I have pictures on my computor at the shop. I'll look for them tommorrow and send them to you. ===== BRIAN ALLEY (N320WT) CARBON FIBER COMPOSITES How are you going to win by a nose if you don't stick out your neck? ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 07:44:41 AM PST US From: "Ron Steber" Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: Subaru Tailwind Bill, I made a presentation at Oshkosh in 2000 and also had a follow up article in Contact. I taught a shop class were I had full dyno facilities and really rung out one of these engines. I had 150 hours on the first engine and recorded over 400 tests with various fuel and ignition systems. Found that these engines are extremely well designed and almost bullet proof for our application. The engine is a 230 HP 6 cylinder boxer engine. What are your thoughts on this engine for the Tailwind? ===== BRIAN ALLEY (N320WT) CARBON FIBER COMPOSITES How are you going to win by a nose if you don't stick out your neck? ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 08:06:48 AM PST US From: "Ron Steber" Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: Subaru Tailwind I'm Located in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 08:11:11 AM PST US From: "john" Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: Paperwork Rick; I received the documents. Will go to town and get them notorized tomorrow. I started putting the stits on the bottom of the fuselage wednesday. Progress is slow, with many family matters and much snowfall to cope with. Having never been around anyone doing covering, except at Oshkosh, it is another learning experience. Hoping to finish by weeks' end, but a week in home building is close to 60 days, the first time anyway. Glad to see your O and O project is moving right along. Thanks for the info. You need to see if the same is happening to anyone else with their GPS unit over the same region. If yes, then there is likely a satellite signal malfunction. If no, then you may have a GPS receive than is malfunctioning. Rich --- George Turner wrote: > > I have a Garmin 92 handheld GPS.
