I snapped a few pix today; it looks like IFR out the right window, but on the
other side it looks right. The sun washes over 32 year old Cessna 150 windows
in funny ways sometimes I guess. The windshield has to have been replaced because
you really can't see out the back window it is so hazy. No more 150 pictures-the
next flying pictures you get from me will be from a Tailwind. it may
take a while.

Any of the group had any experience with how the Tailwind flies with a little
ice accumulation? Dennis or Weaver our XC test pilots?
I know its going to happen in beautiful sunny Northern Michigan in the Winter
9 months of the year.

Paul:
If you pick up some ice, the ice may plug up your fuel tank air inlet vent, leading
to engine stoppage. Wittman had an extra vent inside the plane which he
could uplug if needed. Think he used a pencil to plug it. Of course other things
than ice could also plug an air vent to the fuel tank. George.......Phoenix

Good Point George. I did the Piper Fuel Cap Mod on my vent and drilled a
hole in the side of the vent tube for that reason. Your thoughts are better and
I will install an additional vent in the wing root when I am performing the
Clement mods and recovering my fuselage next winter.
I was curious how the airfoil acted with some ice on it. It is so docile in
the stall normally I wondered if it had some interesting tendencies. Also
have been thinking about rigging up some type of defroster setup.

Yeah...... I had some ice form up one "night"... I noticed the lights of the
cities were getting real dim... I finally shined a flashlight on the windshield
since the side windows seemed a lot clearer. WOW.... Then I shined my flashlight
out onto the leading edge of the left wing. Another WOW..... there was
this white stuff piling up on it... Let's just say it woke me up quickly
and I descended to a warmer altitude. The stuff gradually melted and blew off...
Didn't notice any difference in control feel at all...
That was in the W10 that Jerome built.

Rick; I sure hope the Tailwind works on skis, if not, I have wasted alot of
time making it convertable to a traildragger to use them. You can't see
them from the inside anyway. Just puning you alittle. Love this snow,
havn't been able to fly in 5 weeks, but yesterday my daughter had a brake
failure at a busy intersection here and she plunged the Olds half way into a
4 foot snow bank without damage to her or the car or anyone else for that
matter. Whoppe! i'll have the car fixed tonight. Maybe if it stops
snowing a foot or two aweek I can clean the runway and get flying. Frmrjohn

Sounds like a plan. What can you do with a few possums? We got plenty

Hi Ed and all,
This annoying fellow has been unsubscribed. I was able to kill a whole
bunch of similar posts from him, but unfortunately quite a few got
through before I could stop them. Funny how he could take the time
to send out all those offensive messages, but not the time to unsubscribe
himself.
My appologies.
