Registering in another state probably won't gain much unless that state has no
sales or use tax. In Illinois, we have the same situation. Tax is owed on items
purchased out of state. It's been that way for years. The only problem for the
state is that there is no real way to find out who bought what, unless you
have to register the item with the state. Aircraft have to be registered so they
have you.

Farmer John, maybe we should look at registering in another state.

Paul; Doug came down yesterday and did a Tech. Counselor inspection. He
and Ken Uptegraff spent about two hours here going over everthing. The
local who thought he could get away with fudging the tax, only had to pay
the state $4400.00 in penalties and compound interest that had accumulated
on the $400.00 that he should and could have paid in the first place. I'm
not nuts about taxes, but would not want to sell the plane to satisfy the
penality. JohnD Don't Archive
