I made up a tailwheel spring to Steve's specification of hardness and it performs well. This is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy with deeper hardenability than the 4140 series. It is usually refered to as a spring steel material and has 110,000 psi tensile strength in the annealed condition. Any other experience with this particular steel? Jim McCulley

Jim, the 4140 was a mistake on my part. The change will be to 4340. --> Tailwind-List message posted by: "red" <redswings@reds-headers.com> Hi Brian, I guess that I will not get it, thanks though. I am just installing the fairings, I hope for that last time before flying. I can't believe how much time it takes to do this stuff. Eventually maybe it will be back into the air again. Hope to see you at Baraboo, Red ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Alley" <n320wt@yahoo.com> <TailwindForum@yahoogroups.com> Subject: Tailwind-List: Felix Prop > --> Tailwind-List message posted by: Brian Alley <n320wt@yahoo.com> > > I have 68X74 Felix Bi-Cambered prop.
