How about 4340 steel which is available from ACS? I made up a tailwheel
spring to Steve's specification of hardness and it performs well. This is a
chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy with deeper hardenability than the 4140 series.
It
is usually refered to as a spring steel material and has 110,000 psi tensile
strength in the annealed condition. Any other experience with this particular
steel?

Jim, the 4140 was a mistake on my part. The change will be to 4340.

Hi Brian,
I guess that I will not get it, thanks though.
I am just installing the fairings, I hope for that last time before flying.
I can't believe how much time it takes to do this stuff. Eventually maybe it
will be back into the air again.
Hope to see you at Baraboo,
Red
