--> Tailwind-List message posted by: Brian Alley <n320wt@yahoo.com> Bill, I'm glad you like the panel. I welded tabs in the door post and bolt the panel in with AN3 bolts into K1000-3 nut plates. I have pictures in my computer in the shop. I'll be there later today. I'll look them up and send them to you. ===== BRIAN ALLEY (N320WT) CARBON FIBER COMPOSITES How are you going to win by a nose if you don't stick out your neck?

Jerry, Everything fits. The gear legs slipped right in and the engine connected with a minimum of work. Thanks, Paul pholmes@wmis.net

After 4 hours, I've had the tailwind from 65 indicated to 170. Out of 5 landings, one was great, two were passable and Two really tested the landing gear. No problems so far, except for the initial trim problems. Those seem to be pretty well in hand for now. I've made a small trim wedge for the rudder and will test that tomorrow. I think I'm going to like this thing. Bill

--> Tailwind-List message posted by: Jerry Hey <j-winddesigns@thegrid.net> I received a note yesterday from Aaron King Jr. saying that he is under contract to travel with the Georgia Tech Basketball team. If they go to the final game, then he will not make it to the Wittman celebration. Jerry

    Subject: Sanding wings
    From: Dave Conrad <dconrad@dwave.net>
Tailwind matronics <tailwind-list@matronics.com> --> Tailwind-List message posted by: Dave Conrad <dconrad@dwave.net> As most may remember I have both wings finished through epoxy glassing. About a month ago I sanded out the top surface of one wing. After messing around with technique I found that wet sanding was the way to go. Now as I tell this story I might ad that I'm listening for "a better way" from you guys that have been there. I also found that a bit of dish soap in the water tends to keep the sandpaper a bit cleaner. I have folded sandpaper, sandpaper on a unit used for sanding drywall with a hard foam behind the paper and I have sandpaper on a hard maple block that is about 4"X6". They all have their time and place for use. I'm sanding with 220 grit. Man I hate sanding! I keep a picture of Weaver's airplane near by to remind me that I want my wing to reflect at least as nice as his does in the picture. So I'm sanding away. I started sanding a bottom panel tonight and have it about 80% after listening to a long CD TWICE. Any shortcuts? I got the last cote of west as smooth as I could and looking back did a nice job but the West still had some of those hard to sand ridges. I'll not sand on Monday as I will be attending the Wittman party at EAA. Dave Conrad
