Fred; I can't locate the picture of Jim's antenna installation behind the
baggage area, so the question is, If I mount a bracket off the rear of the
baggage deck, do I need place a larger piece of aluminum at mount for a
ground plain, or is mtd (1/8 x 2 1/16x 4) riveted to the baggage support
      aluminum frame sufficient. Thanks. JohnD

I put gear fairings on two days ago.
What a difference! At least 14mph faster at cruise power.
I also washed and waxed the plane, that may have helped a little. I used the $30
fairings from Vans, and filled them with Great Stuff foam to hold them in place.
I still need to get the wheel fairings on.

John, If you are referring to the ELT antenna, I made a small bracket and
mounted it behind the baggage wall. No ground plane except the angle alum
for the baggage floor frame that the antenna fastens to. Jim C

The internal antenna thing absolutely doesn't work except when very very
      close... No Damn Good!
Use a bent whip Comant 122... Then you can communicate.
