--> Tailwind-List message posted by: "Ruhnke, Mike" <ruhnkem@rayovac.com> Just thought I would mention that on most Tailwinds the Rudder horn has been lowered and beefed up. I had mine where the plans called for but cut it out and lowered it. --> Tailwind-List message posted by: "john" <frmrjohn@netonecom.net> Fred; I'm reading the Sport Aviation Mag while waiting for the computer to Boot and the article on the ELT, AK-450 that i'm putting in is good only till 1 Jan 05, which is just around the corner. Not one Ad states that the ELT's are obselete. Do you know off hand if this true. I can't print here what my first thought was. With the FAA, fickle finder of fate and the grimm raper, i'm beginning to get the picture. From the farm. JohnD.

--> Tailwind-List message posted by: "David Lamphere" <lamphere@earthlink.net> Has anyone else run into interference between the Aileron Arm (at the end of the joystick assembly), the flap push-rod, and the seat frames??? I'm thinking the only way to get this area to work correctly is to build(make that weld) a re-inforced notch into the aileron arm where it interferes (with stick hard over to the right) with the flap pushrod coming from the flap handle. Any other solutions out there?? Thanks, Dave

Dave, Are you building a trike version? I don't know about the other kind. It took me some fiddling, but it eventually came to work without changing the aileron control arm. Keep at it. Subject: Re: ELT
--> Tailwind-List message posted by: "cgalley" <cgalley@qcbc.org> From http://www.equipped.com/uscgsarsat.htm As ETS has noted previously, 121.5 MHz (and 243 MHz - military use only) distress signals will eventually no longer be processed by the COSPAS-SARSAT satellites. The United States Coast Guard has issued the following media advisory to this effect. While this advisory does not mention a time frame, during the June 2000 meeting of the 23rd Session of the COSPAS-SARSAT Programme Agreement (of 32 nations) a consensus was reached to terminate processing of 121.5/243 MHz satellite alerts by February 1, 2009. (See official NOAA announcement.) The Russians will stop including 121.5/243 MHz repeaters on their satellites starting in year 2006. In 2003 the sale and manufacture of 121.5 MHz EPRIBs will become illegal and in 2006 it will become illegal to use these beacons. The legal situation with ELTs in aircraft is a bit more up in the air. In Europe, by 2002 and 2004, and in the U.S. by 2004, depending upon circumstances and use of the aircraft, transport category aircraft, business jets and heavy turbo-props must be fitted with a 406 MHz ELT. In the U.S., AOPA and other aviation organizations continue to fight mandatory 406 MHz ELTs for light General Aviation, primarily because of the cost. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Lamphere" <lamphere@earthlink.net> Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: ELT > --> Tailwind-List message posted by: "David Lamphere" <lamphere@earthlink.net> > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "john" <frmrjohn@netonecom.net> > To: "tailwind" <tailwind-list@matronics.com> > Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 3:18 PM > Subject: Tailwind-List: ELT > > > > --> Tailwind-List message posted by: "john" <frmrjohn@netonecom.net> > > > > Fred; I'm reading the Sport Aviation Mag while waiting for the computer to > > Boot and the article on the ELT, AK-450 that i'm putting in is good only > > till 1 Jan 05, which is just around the corner. --> Tailwind-List message posted by: "tailwind614" <tailwind614@cox.net> Dave, I just finished my new seats about 2 weeks ago and sure enough, the stick barely clears. I had to drill additional holes in the frame and reduce the recline angle to clear the stick in the full back position...a bit more work will be required. Mine is an original design W-10, but with the seats moved back 2 inches.
