Hi Luc, I got to Baraboo on Sat morning after an easy 2.5 hr flight
in smooth air. Soon after I got there, Fred had his plane torn apart
to replace the alternator and repair the spinner. When I left on
Sunday at noon, he had just left to buy another alternator. I don't
know if he got it repaired or not. But I bet he did. Earl Luce
showed up in Buttercup. I'd like to have a Buttercup some day. Lots
of Clement W-10s and just as many W-8s. Four Runner was there too, as
you know. Jim's new W-10 is beautiful already even though it is only
half done. I think it will be another 180 hp. "Once you experience
the 180 hp performance, it is hard to accept less" someone said.
Brian Alley had most of his products on display. They are NICE.
We all (about 40 of us) went to Culver's Sat Night. It is amazing how
much good flavor they can pack into a 3000 calorie sandwich.
N6PJ's landing gear is splaying out and it is getting worse with every
landing. There is soooo much camber......and a lot of toe out as
opposed to toe in. On take off runs, the toe out condition causes
significant rolling resistance so that it is difficult to get up to
lift off speed. Every take off uses more runway than the one before,
it seems. Anyway I made it home and N6PJ is safe in the hanger. I
will have to repair the gear legs before flying again.
The return trip was bumpy into 20K/25K head winds. The higher I got,
the stronger the headwinds so I stayed at 3500 ft. The flight back
took a half hour more than the trip out.
Navigating with the Air Map was easy once I figured it out. Good
product, crappy manual.
The photo only shows some of the Tailwinds. It was a good turnout.
Most of the time the weather was cool and partially cloudy. Jerry

I saw you wheel on in Bob, but you left as fast as you came. We live
close enough that we will see each other soon. Dave
