Today I pulled the ceconite off the wings. I found that they had plywood ribs. My plan is to install fiberglass with west systems epoxy in place of the ceconite. They are covered with 3/32 plywood strips 18 inches wide laid on a 45% angle. The strips are not scarfed together. I do not think the plywood is varnished on the inside either. Any ideas on how I can varnish them now? Would I be better off to replace the plywood? If so how can I remove it? My wings are also equipped with aluminum wing tanks! They are about 18 inches wide by 4 thick for at least several rib bays, then they neck down to about 6X6 and extend almost to the tapered tips.The filler neck is just before the last solid rib. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Keith Imel

    Subject: Tube mark / cutting trick
    Hey Guys, I saw someones idea for marking tubes for cutting and I thought it could come in handy in certian situations... I'm waiting on the FAA to give the guy the OK to look at my Kolb-Firestar II and issue (hopefully) my Airworthiness Cert... So, it won't be long til I start working on my W-10 Gotta Fly... Well constructed Fuselag JIG (lines to mark tube center line, tabs to maintain tube alignment, shims to compensate tubing diameter variations at joint - May wish to ask Dav Stamsta about a CNC programing for a constructed fuselag JIG); 2. Good air compressor with a high speed cut-off die grinder (as close to the JIG as possible); 3. Regular bench grinder (as close to JIG as possible) with small (about 10 inches) tubes of varies common sizes in a coffee can (short peices come in handy for 'quick' alignment while grinding); 4. Mark your stock tubing so easy to see sizing and thickness (like a peice of tape with large enough letters to easily see from 5 ft); Now, get your tape measure with die grinder in hand along with your bench grinder close by and be prepared for a good time. With a little practice you will be supprized how well you can 'eyeball' your tubing for angle cuts and appropriate grinding for tube joints.
