Hi Listers,
The List of Contributors (LOC) is just around the corner! On December 1st
I post a list of everyone that so generously made a Contribution to support
the Lists. Its sort of my way of publicly thanking everyone that took a
minute to show their appreciation for the Lists.
Won't you take a moment and assure that your name is on that List of
Contributors? As a number of people have pointed out, the List seems at
least, if not a whole lot more, as valuable as a building/flying/recreating
tool as a typical your magazine subscription. We won't even talk about a
newsstand price... :-)
Won't you take minute and assure that your name is on the upcoming
LOC? Tell others that you appreciate the Lists. Making a Contribution to
support the Lists is fast and easy using your Visa or M/C on the SSL Secure
Web Site:
http://www.matronics.com/contribution
or by popping a personal check in the mail to:

I would like to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution
thus far in this year's List Fund Raiser! Remember that its YOUR support
that keeps these Lists going and improving! Don't forget to include a
little comment about how the Lists have helped you! I love to feel the
love... :-)
Best regards,

Yo Rick.... Lookin' good for sure. BTW, working with glass isn't such a bad thing..
Look at all the guys that built Vari EZE's and Long EZ's, a lot of those
guys never worked with Glass and Epoxy before. I'm sure you could find someone
locally that is experienced in that stuff and they could teach you A LOT in
only a couple of hours. Especially for making the plug. Brian could take it
from there to produce your parts.
Anyway, it sure looks good with the engine parked on the mount. Glad to see you're
hangin' in there.
Good Luck,

Working on the plug for the O-O nosebowl. Long way to go. I'm not worth a damn
at 'glas. Remainder of cowl will be flat wrap aluminum with 'glas tunnel for
cooling air exit.
Note to Jerry Hey: Looks like Brian Alley is major booked up, I'll probably be
trying to finish this plug and just send it to him to work his mold making and
lay up magic. You are welcome to come down and get a look. I'm sure I could
use your help, and no doubt I'll be shaping on if for a couple weeks as the holiday
travel will take a plug out of project time.

For a variety of reasons (mostly employment), a very nice W10 is for sale. Jerome
Thiessen built this one and it was an award winner at Oshkosh in 82. A very
nice airframe and a good flyer with a great finish. Dennis Vest is the current
owner and has just recently completely rebuilt the engine. The interior was
redone in some places and looks real nice. Dennis added a different oil cooler
and reports that all temps are really good.
The weight of the airplane has been reduced to less than 900 pounds.
I owned this plane for several years before selling it to Dennis to buy the engine
for my Rocket. I enjoyed flying it and put several hundred hours on it before
letting Dennis have it.
If you are looking for a nice W10 with a smooth running 0-300 Continental, Dennis
has got your answer... The price is very reasonable.
Let me know if you need his phone number or email address.....

Jim; What is the best backing material for the baggage area headliner.
I'm thinking that I need something that will not sag over a short period of
time. Due you add stiffeners to the backside to prevent sagging? JohnD

Subject: | Need fuel flow advice |
I am posting this for Graham Mitchell who would like some advice from you all:
I had the DAR out to n12558 last week along with a small army of assistants poking
and prodding around, 5 guys in all.
They came up with about 15 items they wanted fixing/changing all very small. One
of the questions he asked me was had I checked the fuel flow at the carb. I
had not, so this weekend I got stuck into the list and also checked the flow of
fuel.
I disconnected the fuel line at the carb and it just trickled. I checked further
up the line at the incoming side of the mechanical fuel pump and it flows strong. My
question is does the mech pump slow the flow if the engine is not running
or should it flow like a bypass if the pump were to fail.
I do have an electrical pump tee'd into the system just after the gascolator in
case of a mechanical failure.
I had her down the runway a couple of weeks ago and got the tail up before retarding
the throttle just to check tracking and though a little twitchier than a
citabria seemed ok. The gear legs sure move around a lot but maybe it was exadurated
by the wheel fairings.
Thanks in advance.
Graham Mitchell.

Sounds normal. Where in the system is the pressure side of the electric pump put
back into the fuel line, between the mechanical pump and carb inlet? Or, if
this is a Tailwind, take all the pumps off and use gravity. Jim

Poly board, or whatever the brand name is. Looks like corrugated cardboard
only it is made of plastic. I get mine at the same place that sells
Plexiglas. Some sign shops also sell it, I pay about $10.00 for a 4X8' sheet

John, I haven't got that far yet but I thought about stretching a piece of polyfiber
across the top and shrinking to fit then painting. makes for a strong and
durable finish and very light also. I think most people are using this corrugated
plastic 1/4 " thick, that they make all the campaign signs with can be bought
at any sign company real cheap. that is what I am going to use for the sides
and bottom of my baggage area. It is also very light.
