CJ, Can you describe your flap actuating mechanism and autopilot installation? My W-10 plans version flap handle is taking up valuable real estate between the seats. Eric Schlanser, Kalamazoo, MI Hey guys, We're still plugging away down here in Memphis. N540CJ is coming along nicely. 46 build days into the project now and we have built, and fit the wings, welded the fuse, built the tail feathers, elevators, rudder, stick, rudder pedals, 98% of the control system, a seat and a door. We would have two seats and two doors but we ran out of argon today, and the welding stores aren't open. We should receive our engine mount, and gear legs next week. Around then our engine should be back from overhaul. We will be receiving our fuel tank, instrument panel, cowling, spinner, and wheel pants from Brian Alley soon. We will be installing a lightweight electric flap motor, and a Blue Mountain EFIS Sport with autopilot. That should make those long flights to the airshows more comfortable. Here are a few pictures of the fuse with the wings attached. The W-10 plans version elevator trim looks like an afterthought. I would like to get rid of my plans version W-10 elevator trim in favor of something less obtrusive. I have been studying Brian Alley's trim handle and the original W-8 trim handle. They are better but still both are in between the seats attached to the flap handle in an area of valuable real estate in the cabin. Has anyone else installed an electric or manual elevator trim setup on a W-10 Tailwind with the plans control stick that eliminates the plans setup in favor of something less obtrusive? --> Tailwind-List message posted by: Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com> Listers, Just a quick note to say that I've caught the great Cashette.Com debacle of 2004 and have tried to clean out all of the pending List email queues of all the "you are not yet on my Approved List" messages. There were about 117 of them queued when I noticed what was going on. In a nutshell, this guy signed up for all of the Lists and had a "register with my site" spam filter enabled on his account. When his account started receiving List messages, it started sending back, "you need to register" messages back to the various Lists which in turn went to the Lists which in turn got sent to the same spam filter which in turn sent back a message indicating that the List needed to register, and so on and so on until, I suppose, the Internet just blew up! Sheeze, some of these spam systems are so brain dead! Anyway, I've cleaned out all of the messages generated by this thing and put in a permanent block from this cashette.com website so that this shouldn't be a problem any longer. Malcolm, I am curious about CJ's installation. I will keep my flap handle as it's done and shouldn't be a problem with my skinny butt. Thanks for the uh, interesting information.
