Dallas, This might help. I made a mounting bracket and welded it to the top
cross tube on the engine mount. Yes, I agree the old school says to keep the
drain lower than the carb but on the TW that would put it outside the cowl.
I will put a drain tube on the bottom and it will drain farther from the
      exhaust, near the left gear.

      Jim,

Your exhaust system looks interesting. Do you happen to have a picture you
could post showing it in more detail? Is it a crossover or four individual
      tailpipes? Thanks.

Jim, Here is a few exhaust pics. The two front cylinders go into the front
pipe and the two rear go into the pipe that is closest to the oil pan. They
are made from mild steel tubing and ceramic coated by a place in Phoenix. A
sprint car header set for a Chevy V8 from Speedway Motors, part # 418-65600
$94.95 [old price] or you can use the assorted bends, part # 910-13817. The
Chevy set will make two exhaust systems if you are careful.

      Hi Jim,
Your plane and your engine installation looks fantastic !
I am wondering about the coating on the outside of the exhaust pipes. Is the
ceramic on the inside or outside or both? They look like they are chrome
plated on the outside. What is going on with that?

Larry, It is ceramic inside and out. It pretty much stays the same after
running the engine. Cost was about $140.00 for the complete exhaust system.

      Thanks Jim,
I have another question, does the ceramic coated mild steel last as long as
stainless steel exhaust pipes or does it last longer? I am surprised at the
color because I thought that the ceramic coating was white. Where did the
chrome looking ceramic come from or was it always available?

The mild steel will last quite a while, it is easier to build and when
ceramic coated might last longer than SS. It is available in several colors.
White, silver [chrome] blue and black, maybe more. Max temp varies by color
with white and silver being best.

      Thanks Jim,
Again, the plane looks great. Unless I have missed them, I have not heard a
flying report for your new one yet. Have you flown it? Any difference in it
      and your others?
