I have been under the assumption that supplementing the early rod gear was necessary but not required on Lange's new gear. After replacing my early wood stiffened gear with Lange's current production, I have had no problems and even with my fat butt at 240 lbs and another "good eater" in the plane with me, the gear is visually stiff enough and offers no handling problems. I faired my gear with the pvc streamline fairing filled with "Great Stuff." Jim, you are using the wood supplement as more of an aerodynamic fairing, not specifically for rigidity, correct? The PVC is much easier and probably works better using the later gear. We pulled the TW out and put some of the parts on it. It's starting to look like something now. We hope to send the fuse off for powder coating in 3 weeks. We still hope to make Sun-n-Fun in it. Keep your fingers crossed. CJ Kirby memphistailwind@bellsouth.net N540CJ
