George William Bernard wrote: George, you might want to ask this question at lycoming@yahoogroups.com I origianlly had a cartridge filter on my O320-E2A. I replaced it with a Champion CH48110 that I saw on a later model cherokee. It worked and I never had a problem. There is however a provision for a bypass in the event that the filter clogs. Sometimes the bypass is in the mount on the engine, and sometimes it is in the filter itself. The appropriate filter needs to be used for safety. I don't know if I did it right, or was just lucky.
