Should the fabric connecting opposite ribs be shrunk before being covered up by the next piece or can you cover the whole thing and just shrink the outer surfaces? I sanded off the cracked area and welded it with a oxy-acetylene torch. It was very difficult to weld, I think the ceramic from the inside made welding difficult.
