We waited for the cluster to lighten up a little, then we took off on the Ultralight runway.. I hung out there in Placerville for awhile before flying the other 13 minutes to Westover. The T18 was the Red one? I followed him into MYV that morning. Nice looking plane. Is Dennis almost finished with Jerome's airplane? Rex is waiting for the annual? to be done?....     Yes it was the red T-18--it was nice. Dennis is still working on radio, intercom and other little stuff. His transmitter was not working right when we flew into Golden West, so we flew as flight of 2 and I did the radio communications. He could hear fine apparently, but was just a hum on transmit. I think Dennis is supposed to deliver the Tailwind soon and teach Rex how to fly it off his runway. No he cannot keep up at WOT, but his prop is overpitched--he needs to have it worked on to allow the engine to turn up more. Even then, I don't think he could quite keep up, but it may be a lot closer. When we flew down to Arizona earlier this year he was using more fuel too, but that may have been due to the engine only having just a few hours since overhaul. We will have to start inquiring the Fresno guys as to when we will hold the West Coast Tailwind fly-in this year..... Look forward to hearing what N168X weighs, and your trip report to/from Baraboo! Danner and I are off to England, Italy and Switzerland next week.     Red..... Rex is a very nice guy up in Oregon. He will not base the plane on his sod strip until he truly knows the limits. He flew all the way to Baraboo last year with his family in a 206 just to get a ride in a Tailwind. He bought the plane from Dennis and is just waiting for the correct stuff to get finished so he can pick it up. Dennis will only have to give him a minimal amount of dual before he will be ready to take it up to Klamath Falls. I think he got a fine airplane and will be pleased for years.....especially after we get him set up with a good prop... When we flew down to Arizona earlier this year he was using more fuel too, but that may have been due to the engine only having just a few hours since overhaul. We will have to start inquiring the Fresno guys as to when we will hold the West Coast Tailwind fly-in this year..... Look forward to hearing what N168X weighs, and your trip report to/from Baraboo! The prop is a Felix 68 X 76 pitch. The performance of the prop did not match the numbers as it would only static 2000 rpm at best and required a lot of changes to get satisfactory results. Still not real happy with it. The numbers below might be about 3 mph fast but close, more testing seems to come closer to 187-188 mph @ 2500' 23" mp. 2500. rpm. Top speed seems to vary between 204 - 207 mph.
