The little pop out vents that Jim Clement puts on his work well and when closed
are no drag. But the air comes in around your legs. It is better if the cooling
air is about chest level. You can also buy plastic NCAA vents that are riveted
to the boot cowl skin--work pretty well, air flow is similar to Jim's vents.
But for really hot days and good ventilation, the 3" round pop out plastic ones
that you can get from the aircraft suppliers and go in a hole in the side window
work great, and are adjustable for as much or little air as you want. But
when popped out to catch all that air they do add a bit of drag.
I have seen similar air catchers in the wing root area on some tailwinds.
If you really want to get fancy, you can do like the RV guys do--use an NCAA vent
to capture the air from the boot cowl area and duct it up to panel adjustable
vent openings. I think Van's sells all the stuff you will need. More expensive
and heavier too.
My opinions.

Yo Runk.... scoops do the best job. Whatever you do, don't do the NACA ducts.
The sides of the Tailwind are in a static zone and the air won't come in unless
you slip the plane a little. Here again is where Clement shines. He makes
a cool little scoop that opens and closes without a lot of gadgetry. I'm betting
he will take a couple of pictures for you.

Van's carries some the same window vents that I paid almost $100 a piece for
considerably cheaper. So check their catalog first, unlike myself...........
They work great and are flush when closed, Forest had put them in N374D so I
had to have them after seeing how well they worked for Jim Lindner.
Sorry I don't have the exact part numbers and prices.

Whatever you do, don't do the NACA ducts. The sides of the Tailwind are in a

How is the wing install doing? Are you off the crutches so that you can get

Yo Runk.... scoops do the best job.
