I know of several that had clipped and re-pitched metal props and have friend who modified a number of them for Tailwinds and RV's. For the 150/160hp, modified Cherokee 180 props were popular. However, there is a risk attached. For the Tailwind, I'd think that there are a number of wood or composite props that would provide much better performance and less weight. Mine is a W-10 , 0-320E2D , 150 hp. I think it turns up too high .............3100+ to hit 200mph .. No jive, we have experience with all three. But I am using a McCalley 2 blade metal on my C-90! It picked up 5 mph. over the wood. But it really effected the weight and balance, an extra 20 lbs or so on the nose. I would never use a metal prop repitched from a cessna or piper etc. again, as there has been some metal props like that, that broke in flight, and then the inbalance can cause the engine mount to break, you lose an engine from the plane, ruins your whole day. Happened to Jerry Coughlin at Baraboo on his Cassutt. Engine stayed on, but He hit wires on landing on a road, and damaged a wing. There has been articles on the problem, and I understand the rules do not allow metal repitched props on formula one racers anymore because of the risk. I just don't want to waste my money or worse yet kill myself ! If I stay with the factory specs I don't see how I can go wrong . I would rather buy Earl Luce's Buttercup , but he won't sell it ! It flys better than any Tailwind I've flown in and it is a lot more comfortable . I don't even mind the slower speed ,it just feels right ! James Fred Weaver wrote: Jim and all.... I have a 3 blade Catto being built that will smooth the pulses a bit and go faster yet. Climb will be good too... No IVO's for me....and no need for a metal two blade. Although, I'd like to see someone try one. They do pretty good for the RV's Weav ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Clement Subject: Re: Tailwind-List: Ivo Props Fred, Here is a Sensenich RV prop for a O-360. EBay # 4575713628.
