Several people have contacted me about the air box on my tailwind. I have the molds
and parts are available now. I started making Tailwind parts several years
ago to support the design and the great people that build Tailwinds. I make
my living with Lancair work and have seen my business expand to the point that
I have absolutely no time to produce Tailwind parts.
With thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours invested in these molds along with the desire to continue to support the Tailwind, I've made arrangements to have someone else produce the parts. I delivered all but the cowl molds to Paul Schriner of PS Composites http://www.customkayak.com/ Paul is a 30 plus year veteran of the composites trade and has produced hundreds of custom kayaks. I visited Pauls shop 2 weeks after delivering the molds and Paul had produced several parts with very high quality. I will be delivering the cowl molds the middle of June and expect to have all outstanding orders filled by the end of July. Due to the cost increases and lack of available materials in carbon, parts will be mostly glass with carbon reinforcements where necessary. Also Paul and I agree that Gel Coat is outdated chemistry and will not be used. Instead parts will be available in polyester or epoxy. Feel free to contact me with questions and concerns.
