Subject: | Lexan windshield |
I recently replaced my old lexan windshield with a new one and promptly
spilled gas on it, etching it! I have flown it for about 40 hours now with
the discoloration and now it has started to develop cracks radiating from
the filler hole. I have drilled these cracks but feel a little wary. Not
sure what it would be like to have a 150 mph wind in your face! What is the
best way to prevent this short of being more careful and less sloppy? Has
anyone addressed this problem?
Thanks for any help & suggestions

I had a similar thing to happen on N6PJ years ago. See the attachment to see how
I cemented a plexiglass patch around the filler hole and painted it white.
Good Louk.

Nice looking TW! What kind of adhesive did you use to bond the plexiglass
to the Lexan?
Thanks very much Lou..

I thought you'd ask that and I don't really remember. That was about 15 years ago
I think but it seems like it was a paste type adhesive that was touted to be
for plastic. Sorry I cant do better than that.
Good luck with your fix.
