I would have loved to attend BUT........ I need more notice...
AND every year, I attend the Fall Soaring Festival in Visalia
during the first weekend of October. If this date is cast in
concrete, I'll never be able to attend. I will be selling one of my
Tailwinds this year. It would have been a great opportunity to visit
and show the planes but......... Not this year I guess.
I'm flying the Rocket out to Florida on the 12th. I'm having a guy
finish it up for me so I can fly a "finished" plane. I'll get it
back in about a year. On the 14th, we get to watch a "Night Launch"
of the Space Shuttle. I've never seen a launch before so I'm jazzed.
Hope all you guys have a great time...

Fred---- have a good trip--- I saw a Shuttle back years ago-- from the
top floor of a hotel
in Orlande----That as close to a lift off we got. The day before we saw
it when on a tour of
the facilities from about 2 miles away. Gordon

I am thrilled to be able to see it...... I thought the shuttle program
would die before I ever got a chance. And to see a night launch is extra
special. Kinda crazy to go so far for just a few minutes........ I was
able to justify it by taking the Rocket down to Vero Beach for all the
finish work that has needed to be done for some time. And I'm stopping
in Dallas on the way home to take in another Sailplane contest.
Then, I have to keep my nose to the grindstone for several months....

I use #2 welding cable, single piece from master solenoid to starter
solenoid. I use a rubber grommet thru the firewall but on the backside a
3/16" thick piece of birch plywood. The plywood has a hole the same size as
the od of the cable, this is also fastened to the firewall. This will keep
the cable centered in the grommet and lessen the chance of the firewall
cutting into the cable.
