My friend got a legitimate looking request that he change his password. Since it seemed legit, he complied. the scammers thus got his password (they already knew his address), changed his password for real and sent the letter almost identical to the one we have just received. He could no longer access his email accounts and got very little help from the provider. So, be advised all on this list. Dont change your passwords in response to an email requesting that you do so. If you are not sure, delete the message andchange passwords on your initiative, not theirs. Do it as a separate deal. Over the winter I've been pondering the panel/avionics and have just largely completed the final panel layout and wiring (www.tailwindbuild.blogspot.com). Originally I wasn't going to install a Nav radio but just picked up a Garmin SL-30 cheap so am intending to use that. This means I need to locate a VOR antenna so I'm interested in ideas for choosing and locating a VOR antenna in my build. In my Vans, which has metal wings but fibreglass tips, I've installed a Bob Archer antenna inside the wingtip which works very well. As I understand it these rely on using the wing as a ground plane. Obviously this won't work on the Tailwind. The easy solution is to put a normal V antenna on the VS but that means a lot of wire back to the panel and more drag. Has anyone used any sort of internal antenna, either wing or fuselage mounted successfully? Details would be appreciated. Thanks Peter ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 10:22:44 AM PST US From: "Louis Owen" Subject: RE: Tailwind-List: Vor Antenna Peter When I built N171E I put an antenna on the VS and one inside of the wing. Both worked fine but the one in the wing was weaker when the station was on the opposite side from the antenna. I finally used only the one on the VS. I probably oriented the antenna wires forward but can't remember for sure. I test flew N171E in 1978 so don't remember that detail.
