Subject: | old plans available? |
Hello all,
I have been a member of the Tailwind group for awhile, but time
and circumstance have kept me busy so I've just been reading. I was, up
until some months ago, owner of Owens N171E. I was privileged to learn to
fly a tailwheel in her, and got my sign-off in same. In some life
adjustments I had to let it go - I'm now in Arizona and it is back in Texas
with some new owners. They want to restore the bird and I certainly hope
they will! Tailwinds are sweet flying, easy landing, reliable as a rock, and
faster than they should be - S/N O-1 was built straight and light, a fine
example of a great aircraft.
In any case, all the time I had N171E I was concerned that I did
not have a set of plans for the plane, an "early" (1970s built) W-8. Now
that the cow is out of the barn, I'm still thinking about closing the gate.
Anyone by chance have an old, ratty, even partial, set of plans for a W-8
(or even that whippersnapper W-10) they might be interested in parting with?
As the young man in the old movies used to say, "I can't offer you a lot of
wealth, but I can promise a happy home!". Once a Tailwind owner or pilot or
builder, always one, I reckon.
I do know fresh plans are available, but right now the cost is a
bit out of reach for me.
I apologize in advance, too, if this has been offered or
discussed in a previous note somewhere. If so, I missed it.
Thanks!
Johnnie E.
