Subject: | W 10 with O 300 D |
I have seen a W10 for sale in the Uk ere they claim 5 gallons an hour at 110 knots,
this seems slow for a cruise speed. What kind of speeds should you expect
with a O 300 d powered W10 ?
Thanks

Sounds like they are telling you the economy cruise setting...
Do you know of any other 2 place homebuilt that gives you 110 knots
(126.5mph) and sips only 5 gal/hr??
>From what others have said, there seems to be a sweet spot in Tailwinds
between 130-150mph (depending on the airplane) where you get the best
distance/fuel ratio.

FWIW, I owned two of them with 0-300D Continental engines. Both airplanes would
comfortably travel over 180 mph @ less than 8 gph. If you made them go faster,
the fuel burn went up too.
