He said as long as the proper studs are used, its OK to replace the spline with standard. So, that answers that question (and saves me some cash). Now, if I can only find those spline wrenches... I assume this for the benfit of people who may subscribe to more than one list. I find this displeasing from a UI perspective. In order to differientiate the various emails by subject, I have to expand the email window so wide that it takes up excessive screen real estate. Personally, I'd like to do away with this string completely because there are more effective ways to filter email than by subject. However, at the very least, could we shorten this string to, say, something such as "TGL"? .. .. However, I'm glad to learn the semantics of "your" list. Good luck with that. So long, Joe * Well, Joe, It's my list and I want it named Team Grumman. But, those of you who know me also know I "Never leave well enough alone. " (a quote from Raymond Loewy). I get as many as 150 emails a day. Some days as few as 90. I monitor all of Matt Dralle's lists, the Grumman Gang, American Iron, LS6 (small block Chevy), Apple's iDVD, iPhoto and iMovie, and I get frequent updates on products from Adobe (software), Lycoming, Hewlett Packard (printers) and Apple. I also get a LOT of junk mail. Most of the email I get is, in Joe's words, prepended in the subject line with the name of the origin. The Grumman Gang doesn't do that so, if the subject line is ambiguous, I look at the sender to see if I recognize the sender. Being able to sort by subject line helps sort out the junk I don't care to read. Joe's suggestion that the subject line be abbreviated hit a sore spot. I spent 20 years in the Air Force as both enlisted and as a Civil Servant. They use abbreviations and acronyms for everything. I hated going to meetings and needing an acronym dictionary just so I could understand what they were talking about. I rarely abbreviate anything. I even spell out Drive, Lane, Suite, North, East, South, and West when addressing envelopes. On that note. --------------- here is what I wrote to Joe. No need to get into a pissing contest.=A0 I've been monitoring all of Matt Dralle's lists.=A0 Having the name of the list in the subject lets me sort by list and then topic.=A0 I, personally, have never noticed a problem with the subject line having the list name in it.=A0 As for it being my list:=A0 I have been thinking about starting an alternative to the Grumman Gang for several years.=A0 I looked into getting my own server and software.=A0 I am not a computer programmer and what I found was outside my area of experience.=A0 On a hunch, I contacted Matt to set it up.=A0 Over several weeks, it finally happened.=A0 So, yes, I feel like I gave birth to it.=A0 I've also changed my web site to give Team Grumman its own page.=A0 So, if I get a little possessive, I hope you understand. Thanks for providing the backstory on this ... always something new to learn. Hope all's well now. Something made me smile, though... >>I rarely abbreviate anything. << Except "Au" :-) All meant in good fun. Thanks to you and everyone for making this new list go. It's not easy. best, Cory
