I'm working on an AA-5 and there is a fuel leak in the LEFT wing in the area of the SUMP. I removed the sump fairing and shined a light around here is what I saw and found: ~ Two 9/16 bolts on the forward and aft areas of the tube spar were lose - very easy to turn without much effort. ~ Wet dark gray matter in the space between the round spar and some form of metal strap that is over the spar and the 9/16 bolts go thru. I would have to say the dark gray matter is caused by metal to metal wear. ~ There are fuel stains ONLY on the out side of the wing where the fuel evaporated. I cannot see or feel where the fuel leak is coming from BUT! I would put money on the area space between the round spar and the metal strap that is over the spar and the 9/16 bolts go thru. There was some talk of a "SPECIAL" way to torque the wing mounting bolts. Are there bolts that I have described the "Wing Mounting Bolts", and if so what is the special way of torquing them? And to what torque, or should I just use the torque for 9/16" bolts? Next question ... How do you go about getting access to this area to apply the sealant compound or the bolts that are on the top of the spar? Sorry guys for asking such difficult questions but if they were easy I would already have the answer ;-) Barry "Chop'd Liver"
