It looked good when finished, but 10 hrs later it has sagged again. I will appreciate suggestions as to what I am doing/not doing/should be doing? I will appreciate suggestions as to what I am doing/not doing/should > be > doing? > Tom =========================================== Tom: OUCH! At $100 per engine mount and to have those results that hurts. ~ To start with look at the old mounts are there three pieces per mount? Front, Back & Jelly Roll (squishy inside part)? ~ Inspecting the mounts, has the rubber sagged, do they fail to meet the GO/NoGo requirements? ~ After completing the installation did you Measure the Right Thrust and Down Thrust? There is thrust but many installations are done zero/zero (0/0) No thrust, straight on installation. This is suppose to give you a bit more speed but requires you to use Right Rudder a tad more on climb-outs. ~ COULD THE SPINNER OR NOSEBOWL BE MISALIGNED? ~ Many installations use extra washers to shim the engine back to center line. Did you install the washers? If not you could use them to correct the problem you have now, or get extra washers. ~ Working back to the starting point. How are the FIREWALL hard points for the engine mount? ~ How is the engine mount; bent, cracks, or sagging? Take a straight edge and hold it against each pipe in the mount on the vertical and horizontal axis of the pipes. Look for gaps. ~ Are all the mounts lined up correctly? There are small PINS & HOLES that should mate. ~ Are the Mounting bolts torqued correctly? ~ The bolts were not bent, were they? I doubt it. Well, that is all I can think of at this time. I re-torque the bolts with every annual or sign of sag. Easy to do and saves the bowl. ><((((=BA>`=B7.=B8=B8.=B7=B4=AF`=B7.=B8.=B7=B4=AF`=B7...=B8><((((=BA> =B7=B4=AF`=B7.=B8. , . .=B7=B4=AF`=B7.. ><((((=BA>`=B7.=B8=B8.=B7=B4=AF`=B7.=B8.=B7=B4=AF`=B7...=B8><((((=BA> Bradley Kidder N188FW AA-1 #124 "Hawg One" NTSB / EAA / AOPA / AYA ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 05:56:11 AM PST US From: "Steven Jackson" Subject: RE: TeamGrumman-List: --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: "Steven Jackson" Thanks Gil, I didn't even think of this... As I recall. I used RV-6/8 Baffles on my cowling conversion. They fit really well. And they=20are cheap. $190 for all of them. The 51% rule applies in that there is a lot of assembling to do. My only comment is that the baffle behind cyl #3 doesn't allow airflow around the back of the baffle and it needs to be modified. I found a 20 degree decrease in #3 CHT when I added a small channel.
