It looks great, nice job. A few questions:

engine as possible. keep the hoses short to keep pressure losses down. The
oil cooler is in the same place. You can see this in the Baffle pictures.
To get the cowling in the air as quickly as possible, I used the original
Tiger airbox. I'm pulling air off the back just like the stock setup. This
is
not a bad setup. The available air, on top of the engine (plenum) is more
than adequate. In fact, based on the first 10 hours or so of flight tests,
the inlets could be reduced in size another 30% and not effect the cooling.
These inlets are significantly more efficient than the stock inlets.

finished cowling will have a small fairing behind the exhaust pipe that will aid
in
keeping the flow from separately behind the tail pipe.
The finished cowling will quite possibly do away with the nose gear boot
also.
> > HOW MUCH?????
> ....... Well, let's see, I've got about $34,000 in it right now. LoPresti
sells a nose bowl for $3000 that costs about $200 to make. If I use the
same markup, ........
....... I'm planning on somewhere in the $8,000 range IF I can get the
cowling approved WITHOUT hiring a DER for another $10,000-$20,000.

Subject: | New SPAM and Virus Filtering Appliance At Matronics... |
--> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: dralle@matronics.com (Matt Dralle)
Dear Listers,
I will be installing a new SPAM and virus blocking appliance this
evening or tomorrow. The installation will involve some changes
in the Matronics DNS MX records, and will impact how incoming
email is handled. While I expect these changes to be transparent
to all of the List subscribers, things might go differently... ;-)
The Lists get bombarded with tons of SPAM messages and viruses
each day and fortunately my custom filters have been extremely
effective at filtering most of this from redistribution. Its
time to move to the next level of technology, however, and this
SPAM and Virus filtering appliance seems like an excellent
solution.
I will post a follow up message later in the week when things
have stabilized and I have some filter statistics to share.
Best regards,
Matt Dralle

Good luck Matt. What appliance will you be using? It sounds like separate
hardware from your mail server since you mention "appliance" and thus I
assume all mail is routed through it (thus the modification of MX records)
to the mail server with the appliance filtering out all crud based on
configurable rules and virus definitions. I'd love to know what you're
using and what kind of volume it can handle or just point me at the vendors
web site.

Hi James,
You're righton on all accounts. Looks to be a pretty slick box from a
company called Barracuda Networks (http://www.barracudanetworks.com/).
Their box is very affordable as are the subscriptions rates for updates
- especailly compared to companies like Brightmail. Their low-end box
is suppose to be able to handle 1m message per day and 1000 active
email users. The nice thing is that there is no per-user charges.
I'm definately looking forward to lightening the load on my email
server; the SPAM has just gotten out of hand the last few months.
Best regards,
Matt Dralle

Clearly this wouldn't be acceptable conversation on GG so this is nice:)
If anyone objects to the thread please let me know and Matt and I can take
it off line but it's generally interesting stuff for anyone who dabbles in
software and networking.
Matt,
What do you think of the quality of the virus protection and the
intelligence of the spam blocking? Does it really catch the right stuff
most of the time without too much tweaking? Are the virus definition and
spam filters updated automatically and the subscriptions reasonably priced?
I work for an ASP with email services and about 20,000 users and adding
virus scanning to our mail servers is apparently prohibitively expensive and
adds load to the server. We're weighing our options.

TG,
what works pretty well on another list server (Aeroncas) is that if the
subject is off topic, ie Grummans, we put ### in the subject line and coached
everyone as to how to go about setting up a filter to remove/store those messages.
Works very well. We tried refining it further by inserting $$$ if you were
selling something, but noone bothers, they just use the ###.
