I guess your's is unrepairable? The cowl cannot be welded (too brittle)
but almost all cracks can be patched. A craftsman can patch it so it
won't show. My question is what caused the crack??? Is your prop out
of balance???

Here you go Linn,
ASP = application service provider. We provide a fully hosted web
application to which users subscribe and pay a monthly fee to use. Ours is
what we call a unified communications solution which includes an internet
portal including email, address book, todo, headlines, and calendar and a
voice portal providing each user with their own toll free number for voice
or fax and access to much of the same email, address book, todo, and
calendar info as the internet portal. It has it's strengths and weaknesses.
Infrastructure is a struggle in these tight economic times in the SF Bay
Area:)
ASP also = Active Server Pages which are a Microsoft server-side scripting
and application development technology for web applications.

P.S. I'll try what you suggested with the throttle and primer when I shut
down after flying on Saturday Gary. For those that don't know my plane
would continue to "chug" along after the mixture was pulled out all the way
on shutdown to the point where I'd have to kill it by turning the mags off.
Gary suggested pulling the mixture all the way back (which I was doing) and
then pushing the throttle all the way forward. If that didn't work well
then checking that my primer was sealing okay. Any other suggestions are
welcome:)

And you may still have an intake leak. Easy to find: Pull off the
cowling. Stuff the 'blowing' end of a CLEAN vacuum cleaner in the
intake and seal with a couple of rags. Use a spray bottle with real
soapy water to spray all around the intake system. If you don't get
bubbles (from the carb to the cylinders) you don't have an intake leak.
The other thing is that your mixture control isn't getting the full
range of motion and for whatever reason isn't going completely into idle
cutoff. Gary's suggestion should point towards that possibility too.
It doesn't take much fuel to keep that engine 'running' after shutdown.

I mean the flight test data. side by side columns of stock vs.
new giving airspeed at rpm, OAT, and CHTs. Although you might
not want to call them this, I would call them performance guarantys.

it is really beat up. I'm feeling better about sorting it out today, but
wouldn't turn down a serviceable cowl. Most of the problem area is associated
w/a really crummy repair on the right rear, surrounding the latch (which I need
four of bye the bye ;-) ) After I slept on it, I think I can sort it out by
removing all the old repairs and starting over. Then Fiberglas over the area.

I did have the prop balanced at the great Reid Hillview prop balancing and
meat burning a month ago. It was really out of whack. I didn't notice anything
being particularly bad, but sure noticed the difference when he was thru.
An interesting side note: The tail surfaces of the planes running at 2000
rpm for the balancing were shaking and dancing all over the place. I was really
surprised at the amplitude of the shaking. It happened on just about every
plane there, Tigers, Cheetahs, Travelers, AA1s of all denominations.
Any ideas on sources for latches. Fletchair and Airmods NW don't have them.
Someone told me that the latches were a Piper part, but I haven't been able
to confirm that.
