--> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: James Grieco <jamesgrieco@yahoo.com> I would not assume that you can exceed the 2500 rpm limit on climb out until I see it in writing. It would take a considerable amount of course pitch to make up for the diameter reduction. As I recall, Mooney tried some 3 blade props of smaller diameter, but went back to the 2 blades because they were more efficient (for performance, not noise). I take MT at their word until they publish otherwise. They designed the prop intallation to reduce noise, and I dare to assume they wanted to make sure that performance was no worse than stock. If I were trying to sell something for $13k in the US, I would lead the publicity with performance data. If the numbers don't show greatly improved climb and some improvement in cruise, I would encourage MT to follow up with a US offering that was not limited by the desire for noise reduction. Can you imagine a Cheetah/Tiger with Gary's cowl and an MT prop? I wonder if Tiger aircraft has heard any of this. On a different note: My initial posting was sent to TG and GG at the same time. I did not see it in GG. __________________________________

--> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Gil Alexander <gilalex@earthlink.net> Vans Aircraft also sells MT props for his RV series, and for the 180 HP engines he recommends a MTV18B/183-59 3 blade electric prop, which has a 72 inch diam. instead of the 70.9 inch that is part of the Grumman STC. I wonder if this is part of the power vs. noise trade-off mentioned in the MT message? His 3-blade price is $8965.00 which does include the elec. control unit and shipping to the US..... gil in Tucson At 07:28 AM 10/1/2003 -0700, you wrote: >--> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: James Grieco <jamesgrieco@yahoo.com> > >I would not assume that you can exceed the 2500 rpm limit on >climb out until I see it in writing. You have to capture the minds of people and most are not data orentied, not even pilots. You got to put sex in ther some where. > If the numbers don't show greatly improved climb and some > improvement in cruise, I would encourage MT to follow up with a > US offering that was not limited by the desire for noise > reduction. ---------------------------------- Maybe ... Just Maybe there is TRUTH in Their advertizing and they do not want to make clames that will have to be rebuted later. i.e.: LoPressi - Tiger Cowl And the buying public is a funny thing. It works two ways: 1 - When was the last time you heard someone complain they purchased a car and do not care for it? For some strange reason we don't put down the car we purchased. After all WE purchased it! And that would make us look foolish to purchase a car that we don't like? 2 - As humans and pilots (boy, what a sorrowful combination that is) we tend to stretch the truth a bit. How fast does your plane go? How good was that last landing? You get the idea, well, once a few people try these MT props the word will get around. And the Internet will be the main medium. If it is good, WOW ... MT will have a hard time filling orders and the price will go up AND THEY will not have to tell fibs. If it is just So ... So... Hey, they told the truth. GOOD COMPANY! THEY DON'T LIE. Isn't advertising interesting? SPIN CITY Barry "Chop'd Liver" ============================= >Can you imagine a Cheetah/Tiger with Gary's cowl and > an MT prop? I tried both ways in the SEND TO and the COPY TO fields but does not get through. Barry "Chop'd Liver"
