Tomorrow, I was planning on putting the sealant around the brackets that fit
through the firewall, where the engine mount bolts on. My A&P and I were
talking about whether or not to paint first, then put the sealant on, or to
seal them, and then mask and paint.
Any comments?

Great news, congrats Gary!
BTW, I figured out what was off with my mixture cable and it was the little
clamp that holds the mixture cable right before it actuates the lever on the
carb. The rubber insert had deteriorated and fallen out and the mixture
cable was just sliding in the sleeve. I replaced the rubber bit and now get
the full range of motion from the mixture (before it wouldn't lean all the
way and thus the failure to fully stop the engine at shut down).

Here is another topic that I got banned from GG for talking about
In case you all haven't followed, I got LASIK in my right eye in 2001. I
didn't have the left eye done so that I could see up close without
bi-focals.
The results of the right eye were pretty much as predicted. I got the
flares at night, there was a little residual astigmatism that couldn't be
fixed,
blah, blah, blah.
Well, I heard about a new form of LASIK called Wave Front Technology. Look
it up on the net. About a month ago, I asked my Optometrist if Wave Front
would work for me. He said NO.
So I went to a specialist, the guy who did the LASIK in the first place.
Dr
Douglas Steele in Westlake Village. He used a new machine called LADAR.
It measured my eye and sure enough, there were the spots that caused the
flairs
and the astigmatism. That was last Tuesday. On Friday, I had the LADAR
touch-up. All I can say is "It's FREAKIN' amazing!"
In one day, all the little nits I had about LASIK are gone. No flares at
night, no distortions, And, he says it will continue to get more clear as
it
heals.
So, the right eye is 20/20 now and may get better,,,, say 20/18 to 20/15.
The left eye is 20/40 to 20/50, all depends on how tired I am.
If you are thinking about LASIK, I would highly recommend it. But, get the
Wave Front Technology version. The problems with lights at night are not
there and it's a lot more accurate.
It isn't cheap. So, if you're looking for the lowest bidder, consider that
you might not get a second chance. LADAR is $2100 for one eye at Steele's
office.
