I just don't want my job to look like (in a couple of years) what I took off. It was the classic example of "if a little is good, a lot is better" and really looked trashy--with little splotches of zinc chromate mixed in where it hadn't flaked off yet. Steve ... why not just paint over the sealant? PRC is paintable.... gil in Tucson ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:08:51 AM PST US From: Aucountry@aol.com Subject: Re: TeamGrumman-List: Engine Mount Bracket Sealant Job --> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: Aucountry@aol.com In a message dated 10/07/03 04:38:34 AM, steven.jackson14@adelphia.net writes: > OK, I guess that would make sense then.=A0 I just don't want my job to loo= k > like (in a couple of years) what I took off.=A0 It was the classic example= of > "if a little is good, a lot is better" and really looked trashy--with litt= le > splotches of zinc chromate mixed in where it hadn't flaked off yet. > > I prime the firewal, bending the little tab out from inside the engine mount= bracket, making sure I get primer in there, then, bend the tabs back, paint the firewall. I prime the firewal, bending the little tab out from inside the engine mount= bracket, making sure I get primer in there, then, bend the tabs back, paint= the firewall.  After masking off the area around the mounting bracket= a white firewall, and zinc chromate looking brackets, I put high temp RTV in= the gap around the engine mount bracket, being careful to make a nice prett= y fillet.
