    Subject: Oil Cooler Flange
--> TeamGrumman-List message posted by: "Steven Jackson" <steven.jackson14@adelphia.net> TG, After removing the oil cooler from my AA-1B (Collier STC O-320), there were very fine gouge lines in the firewall from where the flange from the aluminum frame that holds the oil cooler rubs. The frame bolts directly to the firewall, at least that's the way I took it off. There was some clear silicone seal between the frame and firewall to seal the assembly. My thought is that it would be much better to just put some sort of rubber seal between the frame and firewall to both seal the assembly and prevent the frame from scratching the firewall in the future. Would there be any problem with this? Project update: I have finally primed the firewall, with Variprime. Two coats of Imron go on tomorrow. Steven Jackson N1434R L22 Yucca Valley, CA
