Dear Listers,
The List Fund Raiser is going well so far this year and I wanted to say
"Thank You" to everyone that has made a Contribution already this year!
Though the generous support of Andy Gold and the Builders Bookstore (
http://www.buildersbooks.com ), I'm able to offer some truly awesome gifts
with qualifying Contributions this year. There's quite a line up and a
rather diverse set of options - certainly something for every taste and

Ron,
I send these messages out to the general distribution and it would be
difficult to exclude just your email address.
I run these Lists solely through the contributions of its members.
There are no deep pockets or advertising to support the Lists' operation.
You'll note that there are no ads or pop-ups of any kind on any of the
List web pages or in the List messages themselves.
Running a professional, high-quality, high-performance system such as
this isn't cheap. For example, the Internet connection alone costs
$7404 a year. Hardware upgrade of the web server ran nearly $6000.
I suppose I could just provide these upgrades out of my own pocket, but
that doesn't really seem fair. Each year, a good many of the List
members float 20 or 30 bucks my way during the Fund Raiser and this
enables me to as least breakeven on my costs. I even throw in all my
labor - which is substantial - for free.
I hate to have to "beg" via these regular posts, but that seems to be
how it works. I will unsubscribe you from the List if you wish. I did
want you to understand why I have the yearly Fund Raiser each November,
however.

I don't want to mess up Matt's fundraising, but thought I should point
out that you can filter the fundraising messages to the bit bucket, and
still participate in the forum. I, for one, don't care for the adds on
the Yahoo lists, which come with EVERY email, and think they're a true
waste of bandwidth. But they pay Yahoo's bills and like TV commercials,
we put up with them. Matt's "ad's" only come out one month out of a
year, and then only sporadically. I can live with that.

In all the years I've subscribed to the Grumman Gang, no one asked me for
money. I am grateful to Mark Matthews for making it possible, and I would
do any favor Mark asked me. But I know that Mark runs the list for the same
reasons I contribute to it -- dedication to the joy of Grumman ownership and
the exchange of information that will make us all happier and safer Grumman
pilots.
I was invited to join this list, and I have attempted to contribute to it
with my time, which many people consider a commodity of some value in and of
itself. I have never asked or expected anything in return, and would
frankly be embarassed by anything other than the occasional "thank you,"
which has always been more than enough.
I am now unsubscribing from this list. For those who find my contributions
of value, I will still be found on the Grumman Gang.
